That in turn leads me to the question of how could
a new kind of church today look like?
A new kind of church is struggling to be bom.
Not exact matches
Those who believe that there is some
kind of conspiracy afoot to pull out and form a
new church overlook these differences among conservatives, and underestimate the difficulty
of bringing them all together.
And so out
of poverty, out
of struggle, out
of the worst
kind of oppression, a
new form
of the ancient
church is being born.

The range
of issues that the
churches face in China, and the theological methodologies that they are devising to handle them suggest that in the near future a
new kind of theology may come from this part
of the world.
That
kind of power is something the
Church still has in some cultures today, but there's nothing in the
New Testament that supports this
kind of power for the
Church at all.
The arguments against evolution have been so explicitly and thoroughly expounded in the Catholic theology
of the last eighty years, that it is not to be expected that later on they will become even more evident, in relation to the
Church's awareness
of what she believes, than they are now, and so become capable
of providing

Today, the
new Lutheran
church needs a different
kind of «tradition.»
For this reason, teaching about television becomes a high priority for the
church — teaching pastors how to function in an informational rather than an industrial society, teaching denominational leaders how to deal with the
new kinds of ethical situations that have resulted from the dominance
of this
new institution, with its
new kind of power, and, above all, teaching parishioners how to cope with the enormous wave
of exciting.

In the second place, the
churches do not have the
kind of influence that would enable them to build a
new society, even if they wanted to.

I attempted to sketch the difficulties
of relating the Resurrection narratives
of the
New Testament to the
kind of world in which we live, and to show that, in spite
of these, the Resurrection faith
of the
church can still have meaning for men who have left behind the world view
of the first century.

of memories, reconciliation, and mutual help among European peoples» and certainly not some dark conspiracy aimed at wielding political power or influence.
Starting as it does from the modern world view, and challenging the Biblical mythology and the traditional proclamation
of the
Church, this
new kind of criticism is performing for faith the supreme service
of recalling it to a radical consideration
of its own nature.
Justinian was a great builder: his most notable architectural achievement was St. Sophia, the cathedral
church of Constantinople and the most noble example
of a
new kind of Christian art.
