the new planked wall craze... could it be the paneling of the 60s?
You might be looking at
my new plank walls wondering what happened to whitewashing (go here to read about that).
I think I say that with every small update we make, but this time it REALLY feels more like home because of
my new planked wall.

wall,
new shower,
new floor and more.
Well, as of today, we've got
planks on one side of the
new partition
wall too!
We are just completing a renovation in a
new to us home in the mountains and in the great room / kitchen / main floor we have medium hickory distressed wide
plank floors, BM seashell paint on
walls, white cabinets in kitchen, lots of wood antique furniture and several rustic wood pieces, and white / natural slipcovered sofa and chairs.
My parents had a wood
plank wall in their old home, but when they built their
new house, the didn't include the
planks into the plans.
We also are adding a
planked wall to our dining room to cover up the doorbell niche (my apologies to anyone who loved that niche) and my newly relocated office in the lower level will be getting a brand
new wall and door to make it an official room.
I have a beautiful, light, clean, rustic cowboy room planned in my head... it starts with
new floors, vertical
planked walls and a dresser makeover.
So one night I was perusing Pinterest and found a picture of a beautiful
plank wall in a
new house.
We are moving into our
new * old * house next week and I'd say, oh, 75 % of the
walls are
planks (as in, 1965
planks) and the CEILING is
planked as well.
I will re-paint the area before we sell so it looks fresh and
new, but I would
plank and paint the
walls again without a doubt.
We're not in it yet, because we're totally gutting it — taking down
walls,
new kitchen,
new master bedroom / bathroom addition, replacing all interior woodwork (including doors and closet doors and closet interiors),
planking ceilings,
new flooring, and replacing windows.
We are about to build a
new home and I can't wait to
plank some of the
walls.

I'm also still dreaming of a
new white
planked wall (I'm eventually planning to cover the «three window

new light fixture (the style of the one from Barnlight Electric above is so lovely but I may also decide to just get a
new ceiling fan — we'll see).
One thing I really like about the more subtle look of less space in between
planks and the random lengths on the
wall is that it doesn't seem to scream LOOK AT THIS
NEW PLANKED WALL WE JUST ADDED.
We installed the same pine tongue and groove
planks horizontally both in the back of open cabinets and on the
walls in our brand
new Craftsman style house in 2012.
But since our
new house is actually an old house, we decided to make it look a little bit imperfect, like an original «old time»
planked wall.
A couple of cute little accessories, some tulips and a
new view out in the hallway to our
plank walls.
We are building a
new «old» farmhouse and I would like to incorporate
plank walls in the living room and master bedroom.

In week 4, my plan was in place for a wood

wall, the nightstand was painted and I gave an old lamp
new life with a coat of gold spray paint and a
new white linen shade.
So after we finished the gorgeous
plank walls and brought in some
new furniture, here's what the room looked like:

The renovated master bedroom included restored original hardwood floors and a
new accent
wall with rough milled cedar
planks for a decidedly country look.
I especially like those
planked walls AND the
new shelves.
It started out plain and pink, then got messy and pink, then I painted and stenciled it, organized everything, we added the
plank walls and now we added the
new door and can officially call this space finished!

new shades, the gorgeous drapes, the
plank wall.
The family room fireplace
wall gained gravitas with a limestone fireplace surround,
new custom built - ins, and horizontal wood
planks sheathing the previously bricked
wall.
We
planked and painted the
walls, added
new porcelain wood flooring, painted the cabinetry, updated the lighting and added a slew of art.
He's going to love his
new room, and I'm looking forward to seeing the
planked wall.
We still have a lot to do in here... the
planks on the
walls need finished, quarter round needs to be installed around the floor, a
new heater needs to go in, and I can not wait to get our
new vanity set up!
Hooks on our plain white
walls in our humble front hallway are not as dreamy as a brand
new mudroom (complete with
planked walls and built - in cubbies just inside our dream Dutch Door), but the hooks serve our needs and help organize our family nearly (well, almost) as well.
Planked walls, herringbone floors, charming
new lighting, beautiful doors and windows and remodeled mudrooms might be high on our house - loving wish - list (and there's no shame in being able to add those things) but when you just go get yourself some hooks and hang them on the boring old drywall you are reminded (once again) that it's really the little things we do (and are grateful for) that will make our house a home.
