The
new gallery is based around a different bunch of paradoxes: from being a big fish in a
small pond to another
gallery in a vast sea of art; from having a deluxe art space to a more modest one.
California (Sacremento to be exact), native, Liz Larner presents a
new body of work at Regen Projects in Los Angeles, but what is happily off - kilter about this bold, sculptural presentation, is that coupled with it viewers find a side
gallery in which an earlier selection of notably
smaller, object - based works acts as an unusual and telling counterpoint.
M E N is a contemporary art
gallery located in the Two Bridges neighborhood of
New York City, presenting singular artistic gestures by emerging and mid-career artists in a purposefully -
small storefront exhibition space.
And rather than visiting individual
galleries — and perhaps discovering
new talent — collectors are focusing on market - tested trophy works carried by major dealers; are sometimes buying from Instagram or other online images without seeing the work in person; and are less willing to gamble on the emerging artists represented by
small and midsize
galleries.

newer,
