On Monday we are having this room measured for
new cute but affordable
carpet and I'm super excited about that too because it will finally complete the flow of the rooms at the top of our
stairs.
The «
new»
stairs look fantastic, and not wrapping the
carpet around the edge was the perfect choice.
We could use a
new front door, a
new garage door,
new light fixtures in the bedrooms, and a
carpet runner down the
stairs.
I built a brand
new house and put
carpet on my
stairs too!
That's why it looks so different the last two seasons (shag
carpet, harvest gold, brown, baby blue,
new kitchen
stairs leading nowhere... of course Endora insults the redecoration.
And I could tell you a whole long story about how this green
carpet went up the
stairs and down the hallway towards the bedrooms but the bedrooms have neutral
carpet that didn't need replacing and that the green
carpet was also in the office, living room and dining room but we have hardwood floors in the kitchen, slate in the entry / hallway / downstairs bathroom / laundry room and fairly
new carpet in the family room meaning our home essentially had flooring schizophrenia and I just couldn't figure out how to make the most of our budget and still get the look I wanted.
We also got the
carpet on the
stairs removed, replacing it with
new treads and risers, and I can't get over the difference (and they're not even done yet).
Oh my goodness... I think IF she plans on keeping it and not tearing it down and starting over, paint the outside, keep the white, do black shutters and a great color for the front door or get a
new solid wood one, 2nd... on the inside, seeing that J Lo transformed her husband's NY place into more modern fare, I think that she would definitely add color (all the walls are white) in the lighter neutrals, reverse the dark stained wood molding in the sitting area around the ceiling and windows into something lighter to coordinate with whatever wall color she chooses or white, 3rd... she would remove most of the colonial furniture pieces, especially sofas and chairs, and add something with more interest, 4th... holy cow... that red
carpet on the
stairs would definitely go and she would do hardwoods, 5th... kitchen and FR complete overhaul, I can see her doing 2 different seating areas in the FR and gut the kitchen..
The old
carpet was removed; its place are painted and stained
stairs along with
new railings and balusters.

A couple years ago, the Mister & I ripped all the
carpet off the
stairs, added
new treads, stained them dark walnut, poly'd them (3 coats), and painted the risers white.
In the foyer, I plan to paint, replace the front door to add additional light, remove the
carpet from the
stairs & add
new floors.
There is also a
new closet door and front door and a
new dark brown
carpet runner for the
stairs.
We had the whole thing painted matte black and had
new solid wood
stairs cut (it was previously plywood covered with
carpet) and stained black.
