Our new teacher training programme will do two crucial things.
When IPPR publishes the full report in September, it will propose
a new teacher training programme which includes a masters degree in mental health and education.
The report makes the case for
a new teacher training programme, to encourage outstanding teachers to work in alternative provision for a period before reentering the mainstream.

In addition to improving students» fluency in the language, the UCL Institute of Education, in collaboration with other providers, aims to have
trained at least 100
new qualified Chinese
teachers by the end of the
programme.
Teach First will not be effected by the
new recruitment rules and will be managed separately, as will early years initial
teacher training courses and small - scale
programmes such as Troops to
Teachers.
The
new programme will also support
teachers with exam board focused resources, activities and
training to enhance student learning.
Teachers in secondary schools will be taking part in a
new training programme to help them respond to early signs of mental health issues in children.
The
new Research Schools will work to build networks between schools in their local region, and will use their expertise to support up to 1,000 schools by providing
training and professional development to senior leaders and
teachers; supporting schools to develop innovative ways of improving teaching and learning; and encouraging schools in their network to make use of evidence - based
programmes and practices through regular communication and events.
Among the recommendations is the requirement for the Government to support a
new national Top - up Swimming
programme; the national roll - out of a
new Curriculum Swimming and Water Safety Resource Pack to all primary schools, and; the funding of specific
training for school
teachers and teaching staff who deliver swimming lessons.
In order to achieve this, the Commission suggests the government should mandate all schools in the ten lowest performing local authorities to take part in area - wide
programmes, as well as reform the
training and distribution of
teachers across the country and create
new incentives — including better starting pay — to get more of the highest - quality
teachers into the schools that need them most.
These include specific
training and
new resources for school
teachers and other teaching staff, a
new national top - up swimming
programme for schools with the lowest swimming attainment levels, and achievement badges to celebrate the success of pupils achieving statutory standards.
The National Centre of Computing Education will be supported by a
new programme which will
train up to 8000 computing
teachers on the latest digital skills.

The Three Rivers Learning Trust have played an integral part in developing this
new way of
teacher training and indeed many graduates of the
programme have progressed into permanent employment within their schools.
Introductory
Training is for
teachers who are
new to Cambridge
programmes and qualifications.
In 2012 they were one of only two providers in the UK to be asked by the Teaching Agency to lead the way in the future of
teacher training in schools by developing the
new SCITT
programme.
The third report will reveal
new mentor standards which Gibb said are designed to «bring consistency» to the role of school - based mentors for trainee
teachers, whose numbers are increasing as a result of more
teacher training occurring in schools via
programmes such as Teach First and School Direct.
Some
teachers reported that their school had introduced
new software to try to reduce workload, such as
programmes for tracking pupil performance, but
training was necessary for this too.
For Chartered
Teacher Status, subject NPQs or similar
training programmes to have wide value and recognition,
new roles which are classroom based but involve supporting others by sharing teaching expertise need to be established as a high - status and meaningful career pathway.
