If you have tried everything to relieve your nipple pain to no avail, there are several ways for you to treat and soothe the pain and accompanying
nipple damage done during breastfeeding.
Though it is painful,
nipple damage does not mean that you have to stop nursing.
Not exact matches
As long as you don't have any cracking or
damage to your
nipples, they don't need any special
nipple care through washing or disinfecting beyond your normal bathing routine.
Do not pull your baby off of your breast, as this will
damage your
nipple.
Tips to healing and
nipple care will not
do any good if the latch is still causing
damage every time baby feeds.
There are things you can
do to help heal your
nipples if they are
damaged.
You can also
do more
damage by pinching on the
nipple when rolling the fingers forward.
But, on those occasions when you have to
do it yourself, using the right technique will help prevent unnecessary pain and
damage to your breasts and
nipples.
I seem to be
doing ok with production but there was some nerve
damage and the
nipple won't stay taut.
Luckily, with the best
nipple cream, you can both heal the
damage that has already been
done and to prevent further discomfort.

I have also see babies who didn't improve from having a tie cut and ones who had ties which were undiagnosed for so long that their mother's
nipple were so badly
damaged that they couldn't breastfeed even once the tie had been cut.
You can mix breastmilk with lanolin and the combination can help to heal the cracks or
damage done to the
nipples and help restore them back to their soft state.
If you don't get help that breastfeeding pain will just continue and you'll very quickly — like within a day —
damage the actual
nipple causing it to crack and bleed and become infected.
Some newborns don't open their mouths very wide which causes problems getting enough of the areola in their mouth so that the mother's
nipple isn't
damaged during breastfeeding.

Do replace a
nipple if it's discolored or isn't in good shape (a
damaged nipple can be a choking hazard), or if milk comes out too fast.

nipples and your baby is more than 2 weeks old, then see a lactation consultant or professional to check that your baby is latching correctly and that you don't have thrush.
However, many other mothers will start to warn you about the
damage breastfeeding can

nipples and all of the pain you might endure.
I had been told a few different things about changing his latch on which really didn't make much difference, and in the end I think probably caused me to have more
nipple damage than was really necessary.
Don't accept and suffer with
damage and soreness to the
nipples — that's a portal for bacteria and often the genesis of Mastitis (infection of the internal breast tissue).
Contributing to that are two other things that are pretty common in new moms, and that is cracked,
damaged, abraded sore
nipples, because of course not only
does that allow more entry of the bacteria into the breast, but it kind of creates a little collection pool where bacteria can hide and congregate on the
nipple.
Mac was tongue - tied and by the time it was snipped 5 days later, she had
done so much
