Traditionally,
nondominant thumb buttons on ambidextrous mice just get in the way and need to be deactivated, but we did not find this to be the case with the Sensei.
Most people will probably stick with five, though, since it's easy to click
the nondominant thumb buttons by accident.
Depending on how your ring finger and pinky rest against the mouse, clicking the dominant thumb buttons could trigger
the nondominant thumb buttons as well, which was often the case for us.

thumb and forefinger of your
nondominant hand (your left hand if you are right - handed).
(I found it was better to deactivate the
thumb buttons on my
nondominant side; other users may find these buttons useful for less vital functions.)
However, the set of
thumb buttons on our
nondominant side were often liabilities.
Since the mouse is ambidextrous, most users will want to disable the
thumb buttons on their
nondominant side.
The dominant
thumb buttons are still better - suited to frequent commands, but we found that assigning minor commands — such as playing voxophones in «BioShock Infinite» or accessing the quest log in «World of Warcraft» — to
nondominant buttons was a good choice.
