Since the breakdown of US - Russia talks on the fate of Syria, Russia has pulled out of a nuclear -
nonproliferation agreement with the US, citing «unfriendly acts» by America.

nonproliferation treaty, the western powers gave it an aid package in return for an
agreement not to pursue nuclear weapons.
The final
agreement is based upon (and buttresses) «the rules - based
nonproliferation regime created by the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and including especially the IAEA safeguards system».
In a letter to President Barack Obama on 8 August, 29 prominent U.S. physicists and
nonproliferation experts (including Science's executive publisher, Rush Holt), praised the «innovative

nonproliferation treaty meet again to debate how well the
agreement is working.
