production of a protein called hsp70 in response to brief
heat stress extends the insects» subsequent life span at
normal temperatures (see «Survivor!»).
Heat, mechanical stress, and adverse pH balance (processes that are germane to
normal milk
production) are the major culprits that denature these vital components.
