The walkout is controversial in Cobb, where Principal Judy McNeill recently sent an email to parents saying, «The Cobb County School District does not support or endorse walkout / protests that cause interruption to
normal school operations» and students who walk out could face disciplinary action.
In a personnel memo dated May 1, 2009, principal Robert Mcmullen wrote, in part, «Your continued campaign has caused disruption to the
normal operations of the district Food Service Director, district Finance Director, myself, your colleagues and the
school... Therefore, I am issuing the following directive:
Utilizing the live teacher option, Proximity Learning works one - on - one with each
school to fully align with their bell schedule, parent teacher conferences, grading expectations and curriculum adoption — your
normal operations won't be interrupted.
