On our second day in San Francisco Vadim and I took a drive into Marin County just
north of the
city to visit Muir Woods, the Golden
Gate Bridge and Sausalito.
But in many places, including Los Angeles, Oakland,
North Carolina, Oregon and Boston, the more than $ 2 billion spent by the Bill & Melinda
Gates Foundation over the course
of a decade didn't move those
cities close enough to
Gates's goal
of 80 percent graduation.
