When Jesus saved me, he didn't make me a person less prone to despair or less intensely overwhelmed
by emotions of both
joy and sorrow, and he didn't make my very stoic big - picture friend more emotionally affected
by suffering.
What the world needs to surrender to is thier own hearts, be honest with yourself, we can
not obtain peace or
joy in our hearts from anything this world can offer or it would be done
by now.
Sorrow because I had
by then grasped the truth of transubstantiation, only to find I couldn't consume, and
joy because at last we found the ground of real authority — his Church, the one he founded, the one tasked to keep all he taught her Apostles.
This
joy can almost be smothered
by life's ashes, but it can
not be quenched.
