If you're planning a trip to Europe: As we mentioned above, if you like travelling to Europe or any of the other destinations Lufthansa flies, you can take advantage of the
companion pass and signing bonuses to
get hundreds, if
not thousands of dollars worth of discounts on flights, especially with the
companion ticket.
We'd like to
get the
companion pass, but are nervous about being turned down for the business card (i don't think he's been targeted?)
Remember, Chase allows two applications per day, so do
not get any other Chase credit card before going for the Southwest
Companion Pass.
While
not all animals
get along that well with each other (like these dogs who are afraid to
pass their feline household
companions), special interspecies friendships show us the unconditional acceptance and love two species can share with one another, often unexpectedly, making them all the more remarkable.
When a pet
passes away it can be tempting to
get another quickly,
not only for your own benefit, but so your surviving pet will have another
companion, but don't rush into this.
Though it might
not fit with everyone's travel habits, if it works for you, the value you can
get out of a
Companion Pass is limited only by your vacation time.
If you did meet your qualifications now you would have the
Companion Pass for over a year which isn't so bad — plus you may
not want to wait a few months before you could start
getting half off on our Southwest flights.
If you are going to be
getting this card for the
Companion Pass then I think
getting 1.5 % return on all purchases with 2 % on Westjet is
not bad (as there is effectively no additional fee assuming you are
getting it ayways).
If you are
getting this card for the spending portion and
not for the
companion pass, then you should
get a BMO World Elite or MBNA World Elite card that
get you 2 % return on all purchases all the time.
This is
not a particularly good card to use on everyday purchases unless you are attempting to
get the Southwest
Companion Pass, which is awarded after earning 110,000 points in a calendar year.
You should keep in mind that this is
not the best time to earn the
Companion pass, since you only
get it for 2017 and a few months this year.
And even if you wanted to
get on board with the
Companion Pass or a Marriott card, there are still ways to
not let 5/24 restrict your applications for cards from other banks so long as you're open to
getting business cards.

It was great because it allowed you to top off points to earn the
Companion Pass or come up with Rapid Rewards when you couldn't
get another Chase Southwest card.
Instead, consider a card like the British Airways Visa Signature You'll
get 1.25 points on all purchases (2.5 points on BA.com) and a single - use
companion pass after you spend $ 30,000 in one calendar year (I admit I don't know how large these purchases are that Stephen mentions).
As an A-List member you don't
get all the perks of the legacy carriers — which are often illusory anyway — but you do
get additional miles, drink coupons mailed to you, treated well like everyone else, and the
companion pass status is fantastic.
I've
got a couple of British Airways
companion passes (through the Chase BA card) I haven't found a good use for in the past couple years.

For instance, we have the CSP, CO Venture and Amex PGR, then both SW cards and one hotel card, which we have decided we don't like, so I'd like to
get either the Chase IHG or the Marriott and I don't deny that the Marriott points could help us
get the SW
Companion Pass again next year but we would use the card that we decided on and we would keep it.
I am on my second time around on
getting both the bonuses and the
companion pass, just make sure you close the cards and don't qualify for the bonuses prior to 24 months.
It's worth noting that this update does
not extend to the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Credit Card, so you could still sign - up for one of the personal cards and the business card to
get close to the
Companion Pass.
I could see
getting a lot of value by having one main
companion, but you certainly don't have to have the same
companion the entire life of your
pass.
If you're considering this make sure you don't let your bonus hit before January otherwise you'll only
get Companion Pass for 2014.
Because I was angling to
get the Southwest
Companion pass in 2014, I didn't want to put any of my spending on the card until the new year.
Note that points from seasonal portal bonuses (such as «Spend $ 300,
get 500 bonus points») do
not count towards the
Companion Pass.
You could fly Southwest, just don your Cow Bell, and don't forget to
get the single best opportunity in travel hacking, the Southwest

companion ticket is like turning 50k into 100k — which sounds like you
get a free
companion pass every flight,
not once a year.
Since you earn 100,000 points after the two $ 2000 spends yielding you 104,000 total points between the 2 cards; all you need to
get Companion Pass is another 6000 points;
not an additional $ 10,000.

I was banking on doing the same thing trying to
get a
companion pass I have already applied for one of the cards that was offering 40,000 points and now that same card is supposedly offering 60,000 points so I'm worried that I'm
not going to
get the 60,000 points and furthermore if I apply for another card that would mean I only
get the one bonus?
