not be getting
cold enough.
But if you don't «shock» those vegetables at that point by spooning them out of the boiling water and plunging them into
ice water (or at least rinsing under
cold running water) to stop the cooking process, the carryover heat will continue to cook them to the point that they turn army - green and flabby.
Peel the eggs immediately under
cold running water; or, if you're
not using them right away, set them in an
ice water bath.
If your smoothie isn't

Hi Rebecca, It shouldn't turn hard, however I went through nearly a dozen homemade fudge sauce recipes (from cookbooks, blogs, etc.) and they all described the sauce as getting a chewy texture once it comes in contact with the
cold ice cream, which was heralded as the sign of a great fudge sauce.
It will stiffen up if it's warm and it hits
cold ice cream, but it shouldn't get rock hard.
