To make things simple I've just gone with the woodsy category — tea tree (also known as melaleuca), frankincense, sandalwood, and cedarwood — and one citrus oil that isn't phototoxic (sweet orange.)
Not exact matches
Do keep in mind that orange and other citrus essential oils (as well as bergamot and angelica) are
phototoxic so should
not be applied to the skin 24 - 36 hours before exposure to the sun.
If the source is unknown, then the liver function will be tested to ensure that the phototoxicity isn't due to damage to the liver or bile ducts, and questions will be asked about the animal's usual environment to try and detect if there are any
phototoxic plants such as buckwheat or St. John's wort available for consumption.
