Usually, Warhammer 40k gets all the attention; I mean, who doesn't like

The biggest problem when creating a game such as Warhammer 40K:
Space Marine is trying to ensure that the massive Warhammer lore doesn't simply bury a newcomer that's unfamiliar with the universe under a pile of incomprehensible names and references.
So, what we have is a twin - stick / hack «
n» slash adventure game that follows the exploits of a bunch of bloodthirsty
Space Marines as they board and attempt to stop an Ork ship.
While Relic aren't offering much new to excite you in terms of modes, the online blasting is still looking very fun with two teams of eight players each taking on the role of
Space Marines and Chaos
Marines and then going to town on each other in true multiplayer fashion.
Finally, provided the attacking
marine didn't manage to outright kill the demon, damage tokens need to be tossed onto the board beside the targeted enemy in order to keep track of their health, which can become a bit problematic when you've got a pile of miniatures vying for
space on the quite small boards.
But, either way, this is definitely worth your money, especially if you just can't wait for Warhammer 40,000:
Space Marine.
It's hard
not to be reminded of DOOM when the creatures, the setting, the
space marine, all feel a bit familiar.

not be innovative, but by the Emperor it's looking like a lot of fun.

While the Starship Troopers movie, which had a radically different plot from the book, muddies this a bit, the original novel had a huge effect on both the mecha anime genre (more specifically, Real Robots) and the «
space marine» trope that simply can
not be overstated — they wouldn't exist in their present forms without it.
Some other attempts at humour aren't as successful and are either cringe worthy or in bad taste, but I'd still much rather play as Duke than a generic

space marines» in the press tend to be neither, operating on planets rather than in
space and
not being any more mobile than regular troops being shipped to a far - off planet.
It's nice to see designers thinking about what ways these wonderful «
space marine» armors could change combat, and while the scale of powered armor doesn't exactly match that of mecha, and thus is really a whole different kettle of fish, a lot of the solutions are the same — just as giant robots shouldn't be treated as human analogues, humans in powered armor should have different skillsets following from their upgrade.
