With the older phone, there's
a noticeable black screen pause before the camera interface comes into view.

When you compare the
screens side by side, however, you can see that the Voyage's
screen is a little sharper — it's easy to spot in book covers but is also
noticeable in text, particularly small text — and the contrast is a little better, with
blacks appearing more
black than dark gray.
Luckily, the reflective surface is only really
noticeable when viewing content with a full color
black drop (such as
black screen during a scene change in a movie); otherwise the reflective surface can be pretty much ignored.

The difference in regards to the readability of the text isn't all that significant — Pearls
screens clearly have darker
blacks — but what's more
noticeable is the speed.
It doesn't interfere with color depth,
black level, or contrast, but it's more
noticeable on
screens with more white.
Also, thanks to the combination of a PenTile display on LCD technology (as best we understand), the
screen also has a
noticeable array of tiny
black subpixels that cover the
screen, further washing out color and somewhat ruining the beauty of the high - resolution display.
The
black bar is still present at the bottom of the
screen, but for some reason, I found it less
noticeable and less annoying than the regular model.
Vertical Alignment (VA)
screens are known for their high native - contrast ratio, robust colors, and ability to display deep
blacks, but they are also known to produce
noticeable ghosting effects, which can hurt gaming performance.
Refresh rate is pretty poor compared to displays on other flagships, and there's some very
noticeable ghosting when scrolling or moving through elements on the
screen, particularly when these are high contrast
black or white elements like text.
This means there's a greater emphasis on
blacks and reds, which OnePlus believes makes for a better viewing experience, although for the most part it's not really
noticeable — the
screen is just clear and vibrant, making gaming and watching movies an enjoyable experience.
While the 4.3 - inch AMOLED, 800 x 480
screen is up to Nokia's usual high standard, there's definitely a
noticeable black bezel around the display.
I didn't go through all the other comments, but I bet if you painted that area and the vent
black and then put a
screen of some kind there it would fade it enough to not be
noticeable.
