But if you turn it off, you also won't see the icons for these notifications in the status bar.

Swipe down from the top of the home screen > hit the settings cog icon > select Notification & Status Bar where all these settings can be found.

If you're like me, you may be annoyed by all the little icons that fill up your status bar, leaving you little space for notifications.

Both devices will get interface tweak native to Nougat like changes to the notification shades, multi-window, direct replies in - notification and other upgrades like custom DPI settings, status bar icon edits and a better shelf experience.

Gesture controls, themes, wallpaper, lock screen wallpaper, notification clearing, managing notifications and selecting which icons to show in the status bar, is all possible through the Personalization settings.

This not only clears out all the notifications in the notification shade, but it'll remove any notification icons that show up in your status bar.

Take, for instance, the Notification Centre which (by default) doesn't allow some third - party apps to show notifications on the lock screen, and doesn't show icons in the status bar.

But icons in the status bar are reversed, so you see things like Wi - Fi and Bluetooth icons on the left and icons for app notifications on the right, with the time shown in the middle.
