When a new
notification arrives, it pulses the
lock screen in an enlarged form —
which doesn't mirror Android's
lock screen layout directly, but is more glanceable than the old setup when it pulses
on screen.
There are several notable changes, including the
notifications display
on the
lock screen, as well as the Chameleon Widget
which provides users
notifications and weather info
on the homescreen.
There's a little handle at the top
which hints you can swipe down
on it, but if you miss the tap target then the
Notification Center (that now looks like a
lock screen) activates.
The interface is slightly different
on the Lollipop - toting 3G handset, with Material Design giving it a new look and fluid animations, as well as improvements to the
notifications system,
which now prioritises them and places them
on the
lock screen.
The interface uses Motorola» skin,
which is fairly light and includes flourishes like a circle clock widget that also gives you the weather and remaining charge and Moto Display for periodically showing

on how to interact with various parts of the new UI, like the clock widget

The update will also bring

lock screen and will come bundled with «Downtime» and «Interruption» settings that help users in selecting people and
notifications which they want to be a part
on their
lock screen.
A reader over at WPCentral has noticed that Microsoft's Start
screen video contains a glimpse of Windows Phone 8's
lock -
screen which indicates
notifications will be present
on the
lock -
screen interface also.
Take, for instance, the
Notification Centre
which (by default) doesn't allow some third - party apps to show
notifications on the
lock screen, and doesn't show icons in the status bar.
That change carries through to the
lock screen notifications, although they don't have the same tactile springiness as
on stock Android Lollipop,
which is a shame.
