learners — to make it more and more like traditional schooling.
The lack of progress in the younger
grades trickles up: More than half of English
learners now in California high schools are «long - term English
learners,» meaning they have been in public schools for six years without learning English, according to a 2010 report by Californians Together, a nonprofit advocacy group.
Instead of only 100 of my own students growing to proficiency and beyond, I would
now move to coaching a cohort of teachers, who then, in turn, would impact an entire
grade level of
learners.
