The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported last week that the rate and
number of abortions performed in the United States fell by 5 percent in 2009, the most recent year for which data is available.
Contraceptives HAVE NOT decreased
the number of abortions performed in this country.

performed in the entire country — a tiny
number given that Brazil has a population
of 200 million.

Kansas and Nebraska, which both had required that a minor's parents be notified, enacted measures requiring the parents to consent before the procedure is
performed; this brings to 26 the
number of states requiring parental consent before a minor has an
