of their basic conclusion — that climate sensitivities significantly higher than the standard range (1.5 — 4.5 ºC) were plausible — because there is significant other data, predominantly from paleo - climate, that pretty much rule those high
numbers out (as we discussed again recently).
Sure, there might be a few
papers that take climate sensitivity as a given and somehow try to draw conclusions about the impact on the climate from that... But, I hardly think that these are swamping the
number of papers trying to determine what the climate sensitivity is, studying if the water vapor feedback is working as expected,
etc.,
etc..

I did so, and in so doing pointed out a
number of problems in the M&N
paper (comparing the ensemble mean
of the GCM simulations with a single realisation from the real world, and ignoring the fact that the single GCM realisations showed very similar levels
of «contamination», misunderstandings
of the relationships between model versions, continued use
of a flawed experimental design
etc.).
Bill says he's got a
paper in press about warming effects on lake life, so I suspect he does know a
number of «peer - rev'd» similar studies — they may be warmists, but what matters is nailing any details
of their evidence that shows bias
etc..
etc. in going with the if you don't agree with us you must have some mental problem... I believe a
number of papers have been published along those lines
The
number of warmist
papers, statements, summaries,
etc. that have been published that are at odds with the facts and analysis they are meant to synthesize is truely appalling.
THEN there must be large
numbers of prior
papers in a variety
of areas which must be re-assessed, re-written, superseded by new
papers with different data
etc..
Lindzen clearly has many fundamentally important
papers under his belt (work on the QBO and basic atmospheric dynamics), and a
number of papers that have been much less well received by the community (the «Iris» effect
etc.).
I think we tend to get caught up in what will save us time, what will be easiest,
etc., and inevitably spend more time thinking (and whining about) the problem than it would take to just do some work in any
number of old - school, pen - to -
paper ways.
At this point in my career, I think I have tried out a fair
number of the alternatives: a DayTimer
paper calendar, a
paper notebook, Microsoft Outlook as well as other various appointment programs etc etc
etc..
