the number of pupils at grammars eligible for free school meals compared with the figure for the broader school population.

In a Holyrood debate this afternoon, Alex Salmond, the Scottish First Minister, has tabled a motion recognising «that free school meals help tackle child poverty and promote child welfare and educational attainment; further recognises that free school meals save families

There are a
number of possible explanations for these trends and the fact check is correct when it states that the improvement in the socioeconomic gap in achievement
at age 11 can not be specifically attributed to the
pupil premium.

pupil numbers and how that could affect class sizes and educational outcomes.
There has been considerable improvement in statutory education

pupil numbers the Department for Education has missed its teacher trainee recruitment targets for the last four years.
Once family background and the nature
of the peer group
at school were taken into account, student achievement was unaffected by per -
pupil expenditure, school size, the science lab facilities, the
number of books in the library, the use
of tracking by ability levels to assign students to classrooms, or other factors previously assumed to be indicators
of what makes for a good school.
Indeed, a 705

pupil numbers are not being covered by government funding alone, meaning academies have to look for cost savings on top

Some are demographic, with

at an eco-park in a neighbouring suburb).
While the UK allows ample time off
at Christmas and Easter (11 and 10 days, respectively), it gives
pupils the fifth - lowest
number of holidays during the summer, with just 37 days.

The additional teaching accommodation was needed
