recipe picks
up where our last post ended — it's another great way to use
nut butter.
Yesterday I actually made a homemade peanut
butter recipe for Anytime Health's Blog that is going
up in a few weeks and had left over
nuts.
(P.S. I have an even more seductive
nut butter recipe coming
up soon.
You can also leave out the turmeric entirely (I know it's a distinctive flavor that's not for everyone), and you'd end
up with what is probably our favorite smoothie «base»
recipe, with bananas, almond
butter, and
nut milk comprising the bulk of the smoothie.
Now this
recipe is definitely a little time consuming, because it takes a while to break down the oils in the
nuts to create a smooth and creamy
butter without adding extra oil, but it's well worth the wait & lasts
up to a month in the fridge!
Using easy - to - find, whole food ingredients that amp
up flavors and nutrition, we've created over one hundred
recipes that will stock pantry shelves, refrigerators and freezers: vegan milks, ice creams and
butters made from a variety of
nuts and seeds, home - ground flours, yummy sauces and spreads, snack foods (including a
recipe for incredibly delicious vegan Pop Tarts) and an array of artisanal make - them - yourself cheeses.
I followed this
recipe word for word and when the cashew paste got into pan with the sugar and started heating
up, all the fat separated out and it left a clump of
nut -
butter and sugar sitting in a pool of oil.
Since Bragg's liquid aminos and tahini are a combo sent down from the heavens (and the tortilla needed some
nut -
butter - y support), I knew the addition of Artisana's cashini
butter would really amp
up the
recipe.
Most people find tahini a little less sweet than most
nut butters (though I've probably covered that
up with all the coconut sugar in the
recipe).

recipe to a tee aside from switching
up the
nut butter (peanut
butter forever) and using maple syrup instead of honey.
Canned Time's
Nut Butter Blast series was the perfect excuse for me to come
up with a new
recipe that uses it, though.
I've given
up nut butter for Lent but as soon as Easter rolls around I will trying out this
recipe.
Roasted Butternut Squash Purée — Basic steamed butternut purée with
butter is nice, but this

up by roasting the squash, using coconut oil and sage, and mixing in macadamia
nut meal.
