I love the idea of another structural base, like cornmeal or sesame or
nuts as the structural component, with flour only used enough to hold it together and sugar enough to enhance the
flavor and not some much fat.
If you skip this ingredient you will just need to add a little extra water, but it won't have quite the same
flavor, and may not thicken up
as well (although you could leave it to drip in a
