I am badly allergic to
nuts and this seems to result
in a
lot of your
recipes becoming «out
of bounds» for me.
A
lot of candied
nuts recipes require egg whites and / or baking
in the oven, which, for me, sounds like a bit
of a hassle.
Since
nuts have
lots of healthy fat, you don't need much butter (or coconut oil, if you prefer)
in the
recipe for a rich, creamy texture.
I also love that they use coconut flour which is way cheaper than the almond flour that a
lot of grain free / paleo
recipes use and coconut flour is also safe to send to school
in my area (most schools are
nut free around here.)
I haven't been re-exposed to wheat and have been dedicated at eating the foods recommended
in WB (
lots of veggies,
nuts, cheese, fruit, beef, chicken, fish, etc. and several
recipes from the WB books).
I know that a
lot of people who have
nut allergies substitute unroasted, unsalted sunflower seeds for cashews or almonds
in vegan
recipes.
Granola has oats
in it which led a
lot of Paleo people to make a Paleo version
of it, which led to a
lot of Paleo granola
recipes that are very heavy
in nuts.
It is now widely available
in many flavours and
in both unsweetened and sweetened versions, however many
of these contain
lots of additives and stabilisers so it is always best to make your own when you can (check out my
recipe for homemade
nut milk).
I don't have time right now to respond to each
of you so here is a quick synopsis: So far I have a mix
of recipes, cupcakes too, some
recipes contain
nuts, most don't, none use bean flours (don't like them), most are potato - free - though I have found potato starch very useful
in some
recipes,
lots are sugar - free - but not all.
It was tricky to get just the right amount
of dates & syrup to hold the mixture together (remember, it's a
lot drier when subbing protein powder for some
of the
nuts we see
in «similar»
recipes).
For example, we recommend
lots of nutrient dense fruits and vegetables, organic chicken, some fish,
nuts, herbal teas, different herbs and spices to use
in the delicious
recipes available on the website.

lot of nuts in the book, but many
of the new
recipes in the update are grain free, and I tend to use coconut flour when possible.

but my children will not eat it, so I just had to skip any type
of nuts in this
recipe: (But I am preparing my own bread and it will have
lots of nuts and other yummy stuff
in it..
