Try using peanuts instead
of walnuts for a different flavor or just leave them
out completely for a
nut - free
recipe and you'll still have a delicious spread.
I have a lot
of dried fruit +
nuts to use up, as well as what I like to call «fixings» (hemp hearts, chia seeds, etc.), so this
recipe worked
out well with my let's - clean -
out - my - pantry endeavors!

I made some
nut substitutions since I didn't have all the
nuts on hand but I only added a 1 / 4c
of arrowrroot powder insted
of the 3 / 4c called for - I did this because the other bread
recipes I checked
out called for the 1 / 4c too and 3/4 seemed like a lot.

I followed this
recipe word for word and when the cashew paste got into pan with the sugar and started heating up, all the fat separated
out and it left a clump
of nut - butter and sugar sitting in a pool
of oil.
UPDATE May 2017: The original
recipe below remains an EXCELLENT
recipe, however by adding 1/2 cup
of liquid like coconut milk,
nut milk, or bone broth the batter blends smoother and the final muffins come
out of the oven with a moist inside and toasted outside.
I also added a tbsp
of cocoa powder and it tastes like a chocolate chai latte... mmm... And for for those with
nut / coconut allergies, I mostly don't make this
recipe including the
nut / coconut butter (for the most part because I never have them in my house as I have either finished them off or am too lazy to go to the store...) and it still turns
out great: P
There were some minor changes in the
recipe, mostly due to limitations
of my pantry: we do not have frozen apple juice concentrate here so I just finely grated some apples and added a pinch
of sugar, let it sit for a few minutes to give the juice time to come
out; o) I also used fresh apple juice instead
of the water and didn't have any
nuts on hand (silly me forgot to check and realized the were all gone when I as in the middle
of baking) so I just crumbled some Italian
nut cookies on top
of all.

recipe idea used 1 cup
of almonds and 1cup ofwalnuts instead
of pecans added linseed, sunflower seeds pumpkin seeds and unsweetened coconut flakes to make up the bulk
of the
nuts and 1 cup
of dates + half a cup
of dried figs all other ingredients & measurements were the same just
out of the oven haven't tasted them yet hope they are as nice as yours seem 2b Alex
Any time a
recipe calls

of bread crumbs or Panko, just make your own delicious gluten - free crumbs using Blue Diamond

I've tried this delightful homemade
nut butter
recipe out a couple
of times and each time I basically ate the whole jar in a day.
Heather lists several
of her favorite smoothie
recipes, but this one from her blog about fruit and
nut butter smoothies really stood
out.
They would NOT be too sweet if the
nut butter was pure
nut butter or you just cut
out some
of the sugar (or both — which is what I would do if I make it again) so I'm giving the
recipe 4 stars because 1) it's redeemable and 2) regardless
of the sweetness, I've managed to eat 4 small cookies quite happily.
I used to make truffle
recipes like these with lots
of nuts and seeds, but I've found I digest raw snacks like this much better by leaving those
out and just using dried fruit, maybe some raw
nut butter which is more ground, and some
of my favorite superfoods.
Make sure to get there before the end
of March to try
out three - grain oat, rye and spelt porridge, topped with rhubarb, rose yogurt and triple
nut and buckwheat brittle; the

Last spring, I discovered this great Peanut Butter Bar
recipe from celiacchicks.com which gave me the idea to make treats
out of nut butters.
This
recipe is Dairy - Free, Soy - Free,
Nut - Free, Free
of Refined Sugars, and Optionally Wheat - Free / Gluten - Free (seek
out some
of those certified gluten - free oats)
Amongst
recipes like Peanut Cashew and Chai Spice
Nut Butter, the Almond Cocoa Butter stands
out as a mix
of Mission almonds and roasted cacao nibs, with a touch
of North Carolina wildflower honey, organic dark chocolate and sea salt.
Cinnamon brings
out the sweetness
of the
nuts, but I only add a dash so that I can still use the butter in savory
recipes.
Given the number
of requests lately that I've had for gluten - free
recipes that are also
nut - free, I decided to create a quick and easy brownie
recipe made
out of sunflower butter.
I also use 2 1/2 cups confectioners» sugar & instead
of LB brown sugar, used 1 cup dark & one white.This saved me a trip back to the grocery store.I mix very fine grated
nuts in the icing.I also made cupcakes & not one was left within 10 mins
of putting them
out at an event.Thank you for this good & simple

of these contain lots
of additives and stabilisers so it is always best to make your own when you can (check
out my
recipe for homemade
nut milk).
It was created
out of a desire to improve my weekly food budget and to experiment with additive - free, homemade non-dairy alternatives at home that don't use
nuts like most
recipes call for.
I have never tried the
recipe with anything but raw
nuts, but I would guess that it would turn
out very similar, but might have not as smooth
of a texture.
