The only reason we didn't is because the old
stair treads were old
oak and my hubby pulled them all out and refinished them and put them back.
I've still got to dress the windows in this area (they're still sporting paper shades), and then (at some point) I'll move on to personalizing the
stairs (the
treads are still stained orange - y
oak and the risers are still painted Manchester Tan).
The only thing that was particularily difficult about this project was templating each
stair to create the new
oak tread; it was time consuming and required days of staining or urethaning at night so that it was dry by the morning, and sleeping in the family room so we could do that, lol, but not «difficult».
