Hi Ella, love your recipes but I was wondering if there is a suitable oat alternative I could use, as many recipes have
oats as an ingredient and I am allergic?
Regular rolled oats are not rolled as thinly as quick oats, so they cook slower and are the common recommendation for recipes that use
oats as an ingredient.
Luckily, most GF cookbooks don't use
oats as an ingredient and I'm relying heavily on those these days.
Not exact matches
Instead of being made with
ingredients such
as flour, butter and sugar, I use
ingredients such
as oats, nuts, coconut oil and maple syrup.
I noticed that you use buckwheat and
oats as one of your
ingredients but these seem to contain gluten in smaller quantities.
I couldn't find sunflower seeds, so just went with the recipe
as posted (substituted some of more expensive
ingredients — honey for maple syrup, different type of date), but will use suggestion of upping
oats next time to see how it goes.
This recipe is gluten - free but
as everyone can suffer from the condition in different ways it's best to consult the
ingredients with them first
as oats and buckwheat may still cause issues.
Having the fats and the liquids warm will help you pack in all the
ingredients such
as the
oats, without rendering your stirring arm useless in the process.
Watch out for shampoos that include any of those grain - based oils, or oat - based
ingredients,
as the
oats they use may not be gluten - free.
So,
as a protein pancake addict, I recommend starting with those 2
ingredients, then if you want to add mashed banana,
oats, or other healthy additions, get creative!

Hmm... I think the best way to do this would be to cook your oatmeal
as you normally would (make sure you're using quick cooking
oats) and just add in the other
ingredients.

oats in the blender really fine into a flour first, measure to the same ratio
as almond flour in the recipe, then add the other
