The multiplayer provides a competitive balanced atmosphere and War is the
perfect objective based mode I've been wanting to see in the franchise.
Most players will notice in the campaign that this map is perfectly set up for chaining together long combinations of wall runs, slides, and boosts through vertical twisting paths, making this an ideal place for a multitude
of objective based modes such as capture the flag.
The airstrike feels a bit useless due to the large amounts of indoor spaces on the map,
although objective based modes like Hot Zone do see it come in to its own somewhat, while the chainsaw is a rather tricky proposition to use because people can hear you coming from a mile away, giving them ample opportunity to take cover and shoot you in the face.
Along with Survival Mode, you have a typical death match game and
some objective based modes.
I was able to enjoy two full matches of
an objective based mode where both teams were attempting to score a ball.
The game requires the cooperation of all of your teammates in order to complete some of
the objective based modes.
Outside of just killing everybody there are
no objective based modes which feels like a missed opportunity to further push teamwork and tactical play.
There are two game modes available, the ultimate chill, Free Play and,
an objective based mode, Passengers.
This paired with the break in gravity and
the objective based modes offer a unique shooter.
The multiplayer component of Wolfenstein has a total of eight maps, each of which is separate from the environments / missions of the single player campaign and various modes including deathmatch, team death match and
objective based modes.
You got the standard Team Deathmatch and Free - For - All, and
some objective based modes like Search and Destroy, Domination and Sabotage.
Blast is a standard Team Deathmatch mode, Strike is
an objective based mode, similar to Galactic Assault, but is only an 8v8 instead of 20v20, and Heroes vs Villains is a «Marked for Death» style mode that pits two teams of four heroes against each other.
TerroHunt will, unsurprisingly, be
an objective based mode that favors tactics over a breach and clear the room mentality.
