At this point, the regional outlook on ice conditions indicates that the large - scale weather patterns, which dominated in August with cooler conditions and advection of ice into the eastern North American Arctic, can also help explain much of
the observed ice distribution at the local level.

observed SSTs and sea
ice distribution as a boundary condition?
We are using the same approach as last year: applying the survival fraction of
ice of different ages determined from past seasons to the
observed distribution of
ice ages at the beginning of the melt season.
The mean estimates for the 2010 September Sea
Ice Outlook based on May, June, and July data were close to the

distribution (as a measure of deviation from the mean).
Although the satellites are considered the gold - standard for measuring and
observing sea levels, hurricanes / typhoons, ozone holes, sea
ice, atmospheric CO2
distribution, polar
ice sheet masses and etc., the same 24/7 technology used to measure temperatures across the entire habitable world is now being ignored (i.e., denied) due to the above inconvenient evidence.
