of exchange among working artists and visitors — a place where ideas are germinated, conversations are shared, and new work is made.
With an intense
exhibition program consisting
of no less than six solo shows a year, augmented by
occasional live performances, Annka Kultys also hosts two group
exhibitions annually, one in January with recently graduated artists, enabling them to have a first gallery show following completion
of their studies, and one in July organised in collaboration with a guest
curator aimed at highlighting new perspectives on young and / or established artists.
As the paintings progress, with
occasional breaks in the action as Richter meets with gallerists and haggles with a museum
curator over how to light an upcoming
exhibition, the squeegees get bigger, large enough to cover the width
of the canvas as he drags them down across the entire length.
He was previously the
Curator of Visual Arts at Project in Dublin between 2000 and 2005 where his programme focused on commissioning solo projects from contemporary Irish and international artists as well as
occasional group
exhibitions such as Communism in 2005 and Enthusiasm for Frieze Projects in 2006.
But the
exhibition also grows more directly out
of Rubinstein's own work as a critic and
occasional curator.
