Much of this uncertainty is due to the complexity of aerosols and their interactions with and impacts
on cloud processes and properties, as well as the
wide range of
scales on which these interactions
occur.
Although it is well established that the Sun's magnetic field is responsible for the supply of energy to the atmosphere, exactly how this magnetic energy is converted into thermal energy is still not understood in detail, as models struggle to simultaneously encompass the very disparate temporal and spatial
scales on which the heating has to
occur, in different structures, with a
wide variety of characteristics (e.g. open versus closed structures, short quiet - sun loops versus hot active - region loops and large -
scale interconnecting loops).
This is precisely what the authors of The Widget Effect report did, after which they argued for
wide -
scale system reform, so that increased discrimination among teachers, and reduced indifference
on the part of evaluating principals, could
occur.
If a scientist and in particular climate scientists don't understand the
wide swings that do
occur in data over short multidecadal time
