lactation mastitis
occurs within the first six to 12 weeks after giving birth (postpartum), but it can happen later
during breast - feeding.
So again I can't highly recommend enough of seeing an International Board and Certified
lactation consultant for this situation as there are many reasons why this maybe
occurring which will really help you get the bottom of, my advice is only that this IBCLC should be looking for the tongue tie
during this feeding time with your baby especially since I can't give an accurate advice without having seeing you and your baby.
A «pinch test» that simulates the compression that
occurs when baby is nursing may be part of your prenatal care by your midwife or obstetrician or
during a prenatal breastfeeding consultation with your
lactation consultant.
It has also been hypothesized that
lactation could counteract some of the metabolic changes that
occur during pregnancy.
The greatest metabolic demands
occur during growth, gestation and
lactation, and this is when a marginal diet is most likely to result in nutritional problems.
