We instead need to focus on the positive aspects
of our school's three - pronged approach to change: implementation
of CCSS, using data to inform instruction, and using
APPR to drive the movement forward.

of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), high - stakes assessments, and our new teacher and principal evaluation system, referred to as annual professional performance reviews (

My wisdom and experience
of 33 years as a Superintendent
of Schools tell me that the
APPR legislation is seriously flawed, regressive and is not enforceable.
Another example
of the negative effects
of the new
APPR proposals is that prospective future educators are leaving their college educational programs because they are aware
of what is happening and do not want to be faced with the pressure.
The big picture,
of course, is that the
APPR regulations as currently constructed are bad for students and schools.

of assessment, teaching and learning wrote an open letter that included some
