Garland and his
designers dreamed up what has to be the only movie
creature to simultaneously evoke the ghosts
of H.R. Giger, H.P. Lovecraft, and the late Grizzly Man, Timothy Treadwell.
The game's distinctive zombies were created by Silent Hill
creature designer Masahiro Ito, famed for his design
of the iconic Pyramid Head.
He's one
of many collaborators who have come together to work on the game, a list that also includes Silent Hill

Whether he's paying dazzling creative homage The Red Shoes or The
Creature from the Black Lagoon, Del Toro taps into the history

One
of these
designers, nerdy Irwin (David Cross)-- a rough equivalent
of Saki's idealistic hero — believes in making educational, nonviolent toys and has come up with a blueprint for benign, noble monsters known as the Gorgonites,
creatures searching peacefully for Gorgon, their ancestral home.
I think I need one
of those
creatures called a book
designer, at least for the first time I do this.
There's also that little
creature at the very top left corner [
of the box art]-- that is a new character that was introduced in this title that [character
designer Akira] Toriyama created.
What's also interesting to note is that
designer Tim Schafer's imitable style is very much in effect with subtle similarities from Schafer's previous games like Grim Fandango and Psychonauts popping up in the
creature models and overall aesthetic
of the game.
Schell is the rarest
of creatures: a gifted teacher who is also a talented and successful current game
designer.
Developer Nude Maker assembled a dream team
of developers and artists for the project, including The Grudge director Takashi Shimizu, Silent Hill
creature designer Masahiro Ito, Bloodmasque and Tenchu artist Kyoshi Arai, Bubblegum Crisis artist Shinki Aramaki, Castlevania composer Michiru Yamane, and
of course, the lead developer for the Clock Tower series, Hifumi Kono.
