They're a wireless version
of EarPods that, thanks to the new W1 chip, pair automagically with iPhone and share that pairing just as automagically with Apple Watch.

of EarPods with the adapter instead.
Yes, the new iPhone comes with a pair
of EarPods with Lightning Connector, but if you need a spare pair, or just want a pair for another iPhone or iPad, then Apple will happily sell you some.
Bottom line: If you find the sound
of EarPods acceptable, you'll be perfectly happy with how the AirPods sound.
It's believed that these premium headphones will be an optional purchase and won't come bundled with the iPhone 7; instead, a revamped pair
of EarPods are in development for inclusion in the box.
To be clear, this sort of performance difference is absolutely warranted when the AirPods cost over five times the amount
of the EarPods, but it's reassuring to know all the same.
We've already seen images
of EarPods with Lightning connectors, and the latest pictures are almost identical — although they do provide a clearer and closer view.
To ease the transition, Apple is including a Lighting - to - 3.5 mm jack with every new iPhone as well as a set
of EarPods wired for Lightning.
In its place is a second speaker, giving the phone stereo sound, and Apple has developed a set
of EarPods with a Lightning connector that will be included with the phone.
For those who don't have wireless headphones, who don't want to purchase Apple's new $ 159 wireless AirPods, and who aren't thrilled about the idea of using an adaptor to connect their existing headsets to the iPhone 7's Lightning Port, the company includes a wired set
of EarPods with a Lightning connector, along with the phone.

Regardless
of how you feel about that, both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will come with a special dongle that lets you use your existing wired headphones, as well as a pair
of Lightning
EarPods.
Besides Lugo's Chamber
of Commerce conference crowd, a lot
of Somos folks from the Bronx also grabbed rooms through Lugo at the InterContinental, including Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. (looking buff poolside in a red Orchard Beach tank top), Bronx Dem Party Boss Carl Heastie, and former Bronx BP Freddy Ferrer (zoning out on the beach with Nina Simone on the

For all
of those devices, the new Lightning - based
Earpods are worthless.

Like the wired
Earpods these are also made entirely
of hard plastic, so the fit is hit or miss, meaning you won't get the best seal possible without using some extra accessories.

of what appear to be Apple's official Lightning
Earpods.
The new
EarPods look almost identical to the existing earbuds Apple sells with similar shape
of the ear inserts, inline button and mic.
What we can say is that Mobile Fun demonstrates that the
Earpods work, we can see that the finish is
of a high quality and the design is consistent with Apple's existing 3.5 mm
Earpods.
Had Apple done something, anything, to help improve sound quality for the masses — which upgraded Lightning
EarPods would have been a step toward — then the loss
of the headphone jack would have at least been partially justifiable.
But supplying it in the box instead
of Lightning
EarPods would be a strange way to persuade us that we should all be using digital earphones.
Every iPhone 7 even came with a pair
of lightning
earpods and a dongle to connect your favorite now - outdated pair
of headphones (#Donglelife).
Since the earbud - style rec is the old Sennheisers without any kind
of mic or remote, I think Apple
earpods remain the best mic / remote earbud - style options.
At some point you may ask yourself, won't some
of these outperform the regular Lightning

A new image circulating online, purporting to be insert documentation for the upcoming iPhone 7, appears to confirm that Apple will be bundling Lightning
EarPods as part
of its next - gen handsets.
To get a glimpse
of what that might look like, one concept artist / prankster recently created a mocked - up an Apple ad for what these easily - losable
EarPods could look like.
Say what you will about the look
of AirPods, but they fit in your ear the same way as traditional
EarPods.
It's thought Apple's next - generation devices won't have 3.5 mm headphone jacks like all their predecessors, but these
EarPods could ease the pain
of that loss.
The AirPods retain the polarizing - yet - iconic shape
of their predecessor, the
EarPods, while ditching the cord.
The AirPods blow the Lightning - equipped
EarPods, the ones bundled with the iPhone 7, out
of the water in terms
of sound quality.
Apple's not making any big deal about redesigning the sound
of them, so I would expect them to sound like the
EarPods.
Wireless charging in the new iPhones will also solve the problem
of not being able to use your Lightning
EarPods while your device is plugged into a charger.
Huawei, the company that's been shipping copycat Apple
EarPods with its Android smartphones for years, has decided to also clone Apple's wireless AirPods, and the product
of that is called the Huawei FreeBuds.
Apple has clearly taken a few tips from the likes
of Beats by Dre when it comes to the low end response, with the
EarPods offering up a far meatier bass performance than their predecessors.
To ease the transition in the meantime, Apple includes both a Lightning - to - 3.5 mm adapter and a set
of Lightning - equipped
EarPods with every iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
We've seen leaked photos
of the S6 earbuds (which some people think look an awful lot like Apple
EarPods), as well as leaked photos
of the S6 Edge, which will debut on the same day as the S6.
Each comes bundled with Lightning
EarPods, a Lightning - to - headphone jack dongle in the absence
of the 3.5 mm headphone jack and a v2.0 Lighting reversible connector.
Without the universal audio output port, Apple is bundling Lightning
EarPods and a Lighting - to - headphone jack cable in every unit
of the new iPhones.
Fortunately, all
of the cases we tested came supplied with one and most will take Apple's own
EarPods without the adapter.
The report suggested the new plan would require the use
of Lightning
EarPods and Bluetooth wireless headphones.
Before the official sound review,
of course, we take a look at the Lightning
EarPods design and difference between normal earphones.
In my opinion, the Lighting
EarPods has a slightly improvement compared with the 3.5 mm version, but the sound quality doesn't have much
of improvement.
