After a week
of flagyl and probiotics and no improvement, we went on a hunt for a new food again.
Some of the GI docs, I work with, have been utilizing a combo
of flagyl and rifaximin with good results as well.
I reluctantly gave in and started rounds
of Flagyl (antibiotic) and Nystatin (antifungal), along with Primal Defense Ultra probiotics and a much lower carb / no sugar diet.

Finally and after much
of my own research and meeting with my doctor, I was given
flagyl for possible SIBO.
Flagyl can be very therapeutic for SIBO but I believe the drug
of choice amongst gastroenterologists that I work with is rifaximin.

Flagyl and we run a specific genetic stool test and we find a lot
of people that come back with infections are also resistant to that antibiotic.
Now before I even was doing genetic testing for antibiotic sensitivity, I already intuitively noticed that a lot
of people were being treated with
Flagyl and — and metronidazole and tinidazole and other antibiotics like this and they weren't working.

Flagyl 3 times due to not healing well from surgery (2 rounds
of surgery a few months apart — turned out I was allergic to dissolving stitches which kept infection going).
Metronidazole (
Flagyl) Dosage for Dogs (administer twice daily with food) Vets usually recommend dosing dogs with 15 mg
of metronidazole per kilo weight (2.2 lbs.)
Sometimes the mucus is simply a sign
of irritation in the intestine, but it can also be a sign
of a parasitic infection called giardia, which is only eliminated with the antibiotic metronidazole (
Flagyl).
I prefer the use
of Albon ™ to control concomitant bacterial infections in weakened pups, with or without
Flagyl for the protozoa, as mentioned below.
Despite the «low» rate or ridding the body
of cysts, many vets prefer
Flagyl.
Even in those high - risk pets, reports Dr. Hanek, «only a small percentage
of cats and dogs with diarrhea will require treatment beside
Flagyl, Panacur and probiotics.
The favored
of these is
Flagyl however it is contraindicated in pregnancy.
I can see that your Veterinarian (s) have treated the common causes
of diarrhoea with
Flagyl (metronidazole) for infections; prednisone for colitis; and ondansetron for nausea.
There are many clinical reports
of chronic diarrhea associated with this organism and it would be killed by metronidazole (
Flagyl Rx) and fenbendazole (Panacur Rx) so the response to medication might be a clue that it was present.
After several weeks, a number
of medications were tried all at once (Panacur,
Flagyl and another medication, I believe, for Giardia) with good results (but never a diagnosis from stool sample).
