This is our last week
of winter break before we start meeting back up
with our
homeschool co-op group so I am taking the time to make some adjustments here and there.
I'm not sure where I'm going
with that today, except that I want to send out a little hello and «I see you, I hear you» hug to all
of you Mamas during this sometimes emotional back - to - school season, whether that be sending your youngest off to college or
homeschooling your little one for the first.
We went through
homeschool K
with some struggles but he has changed so much from 5 to 6 years
of age and we are two months into 1st grade now and he is ahead
of where he should be, far from where we were in K. I almost gave up a few times but just kept following my gut.
I have the same feelings about should I or shouldn't I. I was
homeschooled and most
of it was positive but there were aspects to my schooling that I wouldn't want to repeat
with my kids.
The things my daughter finds to do and creates on her own
with me just very loosely facilitating are now and have always been way cooler and more enriching for her than the organized things they did in preschool (and sadly now school - school, to the extent that I would not mind
homeschooling, but that's a whole other more complicated issue...) A lot
of it depends on the child and the home environment.
While my daughter is only turning 2 this December, my husband and I are already thinking about
homeschooling our children (as the topic
of «getting into pre-school» has come up in conversations
with other parents).

of a change for us, and I didn't like how inflexible they were, and a multitude
of other reasons (I can't volunteer
with a toddler at home and no babysitters)... we researched and flip - flopped and finally came to the decision to

with my own kids) to try and teach them.
Well moving on is sometimes a hard matter for kids who may have grown a big group
of friends, for instance 2 years ago when I had to go under a similar situation, one
of my kids who as a consequence
of me introducing him to a k 12
homeschool curriculum, had grow a good group
of friends around the neighborhood, when time came for us to move on he did not want to move on and let behind his friends, so we had to explain him a lot about what we were doing and promise to bring him back so that he could keep in contact
with his friends!
I'm passing this on to my DH, who stays home
with our toddlers, and the
homeschooling crowd that I am friends
with — who could make a great science lesson out
of this, and probably a nutrition lesson as well!
On one hand, I co-sleep exclusively
with my now 14 month old daughter and believe in gentle discipline and am also looking into the option
of homeschooling; on the other hand I also am a stickler for keeping my childrens vaccines current and using disposable diapers.
