National Security Adviser Michael Flynn resigned following reports
of misleading the White House about a conversation he had with a Russian
ambassador discussing US sanctions before Trump took office.
President Donald Trump's transition team — and, later, his nascent administration — was warned at least six times about potential conflicts
of interest and compromising conversations between Michael Flynn, the incoming
national security adviser, and Sergey Kislyak, Russia's
ambassador to the US at the time.

national security post, and Bolton, a former
ambassador to the United Nations, will inherit a staff
of several hundred specialists from the Pentagon, State Department and U.S. intelligence agencies.
