of this Pandigital Novel review aligns with several recent Android ereader reviews — the PocketBook IQ, Nook Color — and compared to those the 9» Pandigital Novel is very similar and yet very different.

of Pandigital's ereaders and Android tablets.

We all remember the horrors
of Pandigital's first release, with the Pandigital Novel.
The last thing I was told a few minutes ago was that a Technical Support person would call me within 3 - 5 business days.THATS IT!!!! Back in the box with a nasty letter to Amazon for selling that piece of crap an a letter to the CEO
of Pandigital.
But unfortunately, the same can't be said
of Pandigital as the Novel e-reader started off on a bit of a nightmarish note.
Karen, I highly doubt the CEO
of Pandigital gives two craps about you.
Previous versions
of Pandigital devices ran outdated versions of the Google OS which made the tablet feel outdated as soon as it was released.
The main reason is availiblity rather then quality, although the new 9 inch is a grand followup to the other versions
of the Pandigital Novel.
The dimensions
of the Pandigital Novel 9 inch is Dimensions: 5.75 ″ x 9.5 ″ x.05 ″ and weighs around 20.5 OZ.
There are two different versions
of the Pandigital Novel 9 Inch e-reader, one is the USA model and the other the Canadian.
Not exact matches
The third largest tablet manufacturer was Samsung, whose market share grew from 5.5 % in Q3 to 5.8 % in Q4 2011, followed by Barnes & Noble with a 3.5 % market share (down from 4.5 % in Q3) and
Pandigital, which held 2.5 %
of the market.
In an effort to cause mass confusion,
Pandigital has quietly released yet another variation
of an Android tablet / ereader to go along with their two 9 ″ models, the white Novel, the black Novel, and the multi-colored versions, each with their own subtle differences, positives, and negatives.
The other different pure ebook reader manufacturers include
Pandigital which got 16.1 %
of market share, Barnes and Noble got 15.4 %
of the total share followed by other manufacturer Sony, Hanvon and others.
One
of the best updates to the
Pandigital Novel is the revision
of the Barnes and Noble e-reader application.
This was a good call because the selection
of e-readers in Canada is very lackluster and normally each store may have
Pandigital, Aluratek, and Kobo e-readers in stock.
Pandigital though has tried to make things better with the inclusion
of a few essential apps like YouTube and Adobe Flash.
I find it odd that
Pandigital is fairly notorious for putting speakers on the back
of the device instead
of its side or front.
Pandigital has said the SuperNova would be seen with retailers throughout the US by the middle
of this month.
Considering some
of the woes the first
Pandigital model had, with recalls and firmware troubles, can the new one be solid right out
of the box?
A recently filed report by business intelligence group IDC mentioned that
Pandigital was the 2nd most popular e-reader company in all
of 2010 from a sales point
of view, barely overtaking Barnes and Noble.
The
Pandigital Novel 9 Inch features a 9 inch TFT LCD resistive touch screen with a paltry resolution
of 800 × 480 pixels.
One
of the big drawbacks, is unlike the Archos line
of e - Readers / Tablets
Pandigital does not have an app store
of note, so many first time users will find that there is NO options to load in more applications such as; Twitter, Kindle, MSN Messsenger, eBuddy and many more popular applications.
Plenty
of color e-readers are out already including the
Pandigital Novel or the Sharper Image Literati, but they are LCD based instead
of true e-ink.
I'm thrilled to have been able to pay so little for it (since the
Pandigital novel sold better at BB&B instead
of the literati).
One
of largest proponents helping
Pandigital, Entourage, Endless Ideas, and other similar small - time companies fail is because
of their media and marketing divisions.
One
of the most exciting features
of this new e-reader by
Pandigital is that it is the first model with cameras.
It turns on but only goes to a gray page with
Pandigital on the top
of the screen and a tracking bar underneath the word which loks like it is trying to connect somewhere but doesn't.
I am still trying to download the update, they said there are a lot
of people trying to get this update right now due to no connectivity to wifi with the
pandigital supernova dlx tablet.
Because
of the shut off problem, I decided to try the
Pandigital Novel.
The package can be availed
of from the official
Pandigital website so users can download the update and follow the instruction provided therein.
Pandigital does not really know what they are doing in terms
of the construction
of their devices.
The purpose
of today's version
of the Good e-Reader Radio show is to explain what Ectaco, Colby, Aluratek,
Pandigital, Ectaco, and others need to do to stay relevant and current in 2011.
I am considering gathering a group
of simularly situated folks and initiating a class - action suit against
Pandigital for selling such crap and not providing a resolution to known quality issues.
Pandigital hasn't yet revealed when it would resumes shipments
of the Novel.
Their first color e-reader sold a tremendous amount
of copies during the holiday season, but were edged out
of the number 2 position by
Pandigital.
The worst part
of the entire experience with the
Pandigital unit was wasting my time searching the internet for some helpful information on the Novel.
Pandigital has been issuing a bunch
of new e-readers this year and many
of them have been limited to the USA in terms
of sales.
People need to understand the quality
of this tablet is not in the same cateogory as the Velocity Cruz or
Pandigital.
Pandigital continues to be popular because
of its solid distribution chain with most popular electronic stores in both the USA and Canada and continues to be in the Top 5 in sales for e-reader devices.
A big proponent
of the companies overtaking B&N was due to the fact
Pandigital is available in more regions and enjoys more retail prevalence in countries like Canada.
This is one
of the first devices issues by
Pandigital that actually allow you to do video conferencing, take pictures, and shoot video.
Pandigital has unveiled the Novel white last year while the new Novel tablet in black is currently available at QVC for a price
of $ 139.98.
For as per the latest e-reader news, here comes another e-reader that shares a lot
of similarity with the Novel but promises you a far better deal that what the
Pandigital offering could.
CPT is also presumed to be the supplier
of the 7 - inch color TFT - LCD panels for the
Pandigital Novel e-reader which marked
Pandigital «s first foray in the competitive e-reader market.
You will be able to shoot both video and take pictures, so
Pandigital customers can leap into the modern era
of tablets for a change!
Pandigital is certainly going through some growing pains, we reported last month that users were having a tone
of problems with WI - FI, internet connectivity and all sorts
of UI errors.
