And (after the success
of the Hangover movies) what better place is there to toss together a premarital fete than in Las Vegas.
The only way this got the green light is because of the success
of The Hangover movies, Sex and the City, and HBO's «Girls ``.
That's a great start but it's also directed by Todd Phillips, who did
all of the Hangover movies.
I always liked the end scene
of The Hangover movie where the guys are scrolling through all the pictures from their crazy night and they saw they had been partying with carrot top.

Hangover Collection,» and all
of a sudden he came across the original Christopher Reeve Superman

Hangover blew away all
of them.
It's worth noting that The
Hangover: Part II gets off to an unexpectedly entertaining start, as the
movie is, at the outset, concerned with the easygoing exploits
of the central characters - with the affable atmosphere heightened by the palpable chemistry between the three protagonists.
Anticipating the headache described in its title, I wasn't looking forward to The
Hangover, a raucous guys - in - Vegas, party - outta - control
movie with a plot lifted from that influential modern American work
of art, Dude, Where's My Car?
The lifeless vibe persists for much
of the
movie's overlong running time, and although the return to Vegas towards the end is kind
of amusing, The
Hangover: Part III has long - since established itself as a predictably pointless closer to a consistently half - baked franchise (ie it's saying something that this is the least objectionable installment in the series).
Tracking a very limited set
of clues, they spend the bulk
of the
movie and generate the biggest portion
of The
Hangover's laughs piecing together the events
of the prior night and wondering how they came to lose Doug.
Without a doubt, The
Hangover largely follows the formula for rowdy party
movies, not to mention relying heavily on The Four Guy Archetypes
of the Apocalypse: Straightforward Everyman (Bartha), Ladies» Man (Cooper), Nerdy Guy (Helms) and Unabomber (Galafianakis).
So I should say up front that «The
Hangover,» Mr. Phillips's new
movie (written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, who contributed to the shockingly nonterrible script
of «Four Christmases» and wrote the less surprisingly dreadful script
of «Ghosts
of Girlfriends Past») is often very funny.
Phillips treads broadly similar ground with The
Hangover (written by Lucas and Moore
of Four Christmases «fame») but, ironically for a
movie that celebrates the male
of the species» innate ability to screw things up and act like a complete idiot, he exhibits a great deal more maturity than he did with its likable but hit - and - miss forebear.
Mercifully, and very astutely, The
Hangover avoids the clichés — the majority
of them, at least — by starting where most
movies of this ilk finish: in the aftermath
of the ruinous carousing rather than the preamble to it.
On the other hand, to a post-boxing target audience that thinks
of boxers as washed - up athletes who make cameos in «
Hangover»
movies, this is all likely to make sense.
CHICAGO — When Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (the writers
of «The
Hangover» and its sequel) decided to go back in time to college with the same drunk
movie formula, their resulting «21 and Over» neglected two major ingredients: being consistently funny and making bold new choices.
It was a year we all wanted to be entertained than have to face the dreariness
of our normal lives, what with the wars and the economy tanking, The
Hangover, for better or worse, was the
movie we went to when we needed a laugh.
Although I usually run as fast as I can from films like this, I'm pleased to say The
Hangover ends up being one
of the funniest
movies I've seen in a long time.
(Pretty cool to see Detective Carter from «Person
of Interest» let her hair down...) It's definitely better than the 2nd and 3rd
Hangover movies, though not as good as as the original or Bridesmaids.
The
Hangover is without a doubt going to be one
of, if not the most laugh - out - loud
movie of the summer — probably
of the year.

of funny
movies play by their own rules - except that «The
Hangover» keeps doubling - down on the outlandishness.

Hangover's cinematic stylings before getting into just how funny it is, but, recognized or not, the richness
of the comedy is clearly connected to the skillfulness
of the
movie that houses it.
In addition, «The
Hangover» is a worthy entrant into the «guy
movie» hall
of fame.

movies in the forthcoming buddy road comedy Due Date, all three leads have moved past their vaguely familiar stage to a reasonable degree
of stardom, the savvily - greenlit The
Hangover 2 has begun shooting, and Warner Home Video has just reissued the film in Extreme Edition DVD and Blu - ray sets.
Award - Worthy: This is Cooper's first major award nomination
of any kind, if you don't count being nominated for an MTV
Movie Award for Best Comedic Performance in The
Hangover.
This
movie is like the brain - damaged, ether - sniffing cousin
of The
Hangover.
And the Joker - Harley Quinn project is separate from Warner's recently unveiled standalone Joker origin
movie being developed as a potential directing vehicle for Todd Phillips
of «The
Hangover» — which will not star Leto.

Although coined by many as the female version
of The
Hangover, and there are certainly similarities, this does the
movie a certain injustice.
That idea had a bit more magic in it — I am not saying that this
movie is the next coming
of Hangover — but this film manages to be a surprise through all the cliches.

Since a few weeks back you all got to see The
Hangover Part II with Helms being overshadowed by the likes
of Galifanakis this
movie is a wonderful reminder that Helms is really a comedic talent that deserves more chances.
Ken Jeong (Community) spent his time in The
Hangover as a mean, naked gambler that hit so hard; he returned in The
Hangover Part II, but [spoiler alert] spent the better part
of the
movie presumably dead.
I found The
Hangover Part II to be a major disappointment, mainly because it was the exact same
movie as the first pic with only a change
of setting.
When I heard Todd Phillips was directing War Dogs, I became uneasy, even though I'm a huge fan
of Old School and the first
Hangover film (his other

I thought «The
Hangover» was a great night at the
movies, and a far better investment
of my money than any
of the big FX blockbusters (only one
of which I've found interesting enough to see and then I didn't even like it — «Star Trek»).
