We set up a

You're still responsible for most
of your marketing, have to deal
with your agent / editor about stuff, have edits, copy - edits, galleys, have to write
blog posts for publisher - set - up
tours (not always to the most highly trafficked
blogs), deal
with tracking down missing royalty statements, etc..

with that, my virtual
blog tour lady, a wonderful woman by the name
of Amy at Historical Fiction Virtual Book Tours has set up a virtual
blog tour for me in March.
The idea
of a
blog tour can be immediately exciting to many authors and publicists who run into logistical hurtles when planning a traditional book
tour (e.g. high costs for travel, coordinating special shipments
of books to arrive in time, scheduling events
with various stores all
with their own full calendars, and bringing in a big enough audience at each venue to make it all worthwhile).

Kelly made sure I had all
of the information I could possibly need, kept me updated
with any changes there were, and promoted the heck out
of my
blog when it came time for my stop on the
tour.
The goal
of a book
blog tour is to make friends, network
with readers and build relationships for the long term.
Personally, I like the pre-order option because it allows for the build up
of anticipation
of a book's release
with marketing events, such as
blog tours or the review by a professional site such as BookPage or Midwest Book Review.
Apart form hosting book
tours, we can also do various other services to help you
with the promotion
of your book such as writing press releases, setting up a newsletter for your
blog, managing your social media, arrange publicity services for your book and more.
I also was not super happy
with that article, especially since I always do review posts for
blog tours which takes a good amount
of work on my part (i.e. reading the book!).
