When you break down the
anatomy of a great cover letter, it's really just an extension of your resume that gets specific about why you're interested in the position and what makes you qualified to fill it.
CONSENSUS: The only thing that people on all
sides of the great cover letter debate agree upon is when a recruiter, employer or job posting requests that you include a cover letter along with your resume that you do so; and you must follow their directions to a tee including sending a detailed salary history if requested.
