Use a roller to apply one coat
of acrylic primer.
I use canvas on wooden stretchers, prepared with a couple of coats
of acrylic primer.

Sometimes, but not all it all depends on each brand
of paint, but
acrylic latex and latex with
primer in it can bind when mixed with PoP and or Non-sanded grout.
Sometimes if there is a
primer in the paint or an
acrylic it will get thick if you use other ingredients like Plaster
of Paris or Non-Sanded grout to make the paint.
Plaster
of Paris and Non-Sanded grout are the ingredients that don't mix well with
acrylic or paints with
primers in them.
If you use Plaster
of Paris or Non-Sanded Grout, when you mix paint with
primers and
acrylic in into these ingredients, they can harden making the paint unusable.
It's then given several coats
of primer (very often a white
acrylic primer called gesso) to seal it and prevent the oil from the paints soaking through the surface.
Ofili added several further layers
of acrylic gesso
primer and then covered the entire canvas with phosphorescent light green
acrylic paint.
Primers and gessoes that are suitable for both oils and
acrylics can be used on a wide variety
of surfaces - wood, paper, canvas - and can be applied by brush or roller for textural variation.
A white
acrylic gesso
primer was then applied to the stretched face
of the canvas and around all the tacking margins to the rear turnover point.
The white areas
of this pattern appear to be the uncovered
acrylic gesso
primer and the black pattern was probably created using a scrunched up rag that was dipped in black emulsion paint and then dabbed all over the stretched canvas.

I finally did some research and find that Glidden Prem Latex Paint (w / o
primer &
acrylic) has a blue label and the number
of the paint is 6211.
