A 1280 x 800 resolution (rather low) 10.1 inch display makes up the front but includes a layer
of active digitizer on top of the touchscreen that enables the tablet to respond to stylus inputs.
LG is billing the Optimus Vu as a device that could be useful for note - taking, but make no mention
of an active digitizer screen such as those found on the HTC Flyer and Samsung Galaxy Note.
Chippy and I have both said that we like the idea
of an active digitizer (disregarding the software hurdles), but we think it would be more useful in a larger device.
Touchscreen technology too varies and is inclusive
of active digitizers as well as capacitive screens capable of accepting multitouch responses.
Not exact matches
The price
of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 is a little steep, at $ 400, but that's mainly because
of the stylus and
active digitizer.
These include an integrated fingerprint scanner along with an optional
active digitizer, which means one can also use a digital pen instead
of fingers.
Also add that the CL900 and Q550, the devices I would have preferred in order to get into an
active digitizer, are priced on the edge
of my desired price range.

One
of the big hyping factors regarding this new device is the
active digitizer Pen that will replace the capacitive one that shipped with the Surface 1 and 2.
Then there's the ThinkPad Tablet which seems to combine functions
of the Transformer with the Flyer by offering a dockable folio with full keyboard and mouse, which folds down like a netbook, as well as an
active digitizer for digital inking and notetaking.
Sounds kind
of lame; I initially had great hopes for the Archos 9 when it came out last year, but at this point, it should really have a capacitive screen with an
active digitizer if it wants to succeed with Windows 7 on board.
As if full - size SD Card and USB ports - a combination so far only found on the Toshiba Thrive - isn't enough to sway you, another big differentiator
of the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet is its display's support for the Ntrig
active pen
digitizer.
Of course, if it's not an OQO slider form factor, I'd still require a stowable
active digitizer pen or a thumb bezel mouse.
Instead
of using an
active stylus» built - in
digitizer, DirectStylus employs the tablet's processor and a touch sensor to differentiate between a pen and finger for a smooth writing experience.
The design
of the Chuwi SurBook Mini is that
of a 10.8 - inch tablet with a 125 degree built - in kickstand, featuring a Full HD resolution display
of 1920 x 1280, giving it a 3:2 aspect ratio, with support for the optional
active digitizer pen HiPen H2.
Is it perfect, no, I wish it had a wireless display option and an
active digitizer, but I am willing to forego those for the spectacular battery life, ease
of use, build quality and versatility.

A relevant difference is that this model also has
active digitizer support, built particularly for Asus» own Z Stylus
digitizer with support up to 1024 levels
of pressure sensitivity with a 1.2 mm ball tip on the pen.
For those
of you still on the fence, HP has posted all
of the final specs for the device as well, including the fact that it has an
active digitizer as well as an Intel Z540 Atom Processor Z540 (1.86 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache, 533 MHz FSB) and 2 GB
of memory.

of RAM, front and rear cameras, removable battery, 1.5 kg weight and obviously Windows 7 with an optional UI layer and an
active digitizer / pen.
Because,
of course, these tablets will have an
active digitizer, right.
The flow
of digital ink is akin to what you'd find on an
active digitizer, and there's even support for rudimentary pressure recognition, as DirectStylus calculates the flattening
of the nib on the screen and the footprint it leaves.
Without an
active digitizer and stylus this seems somewhat out
of place, but I suppose this will be enjoyed by those who can get along with capacitive styli.
As you likely know already if you have kept up with the first three entries in this series, the ThinkPad Tablet is one
of just a few existing mobile OS tablets that sport an
active digitizer.
