In addition to court and legal fees, you must also keep in mind the additional costs of divorce.
Whilst each case is going to be different, from my experience it should be possible for all of the issues to be addressed properly within the mediation process for somewhere between # 500 t0 # 1,500 per person, with then just the court fees and some specific legal costs to add to this, giving a total cost of somewhere between # 1,000 and # 2,500 per person for the full process (but with there being additional costs involved if financial advisers or other experts are instructed during the process).
To make this determination, the court will consider the reason for moving, additional costs and difficulties to each parent in exercising parent - time, economic resources of each parent, and any other factors the court deems relevant.
Removing a trial from the divorce process also removes a host of court fees and other costs that come from having to always be in court, like additional child care, time off from work, etc..
