All of this alienation which we see day to day?
Religion is often described as the healing
of an alienation which has opened between man and his world: this is true; but we may not forget that it is religion which has brought about that alienation.
An acknowledged feature of our world is the sense
of alienation which many feel.
Not exact matches
You may even at times feel degrees
of alienation from the group
of which you are a part.
Nevertheless, and here we continue to have much to learn from the radical Christian, we can not neglect the possibility that it is precisely our
alienation from the religious world
of primitive Christianity
which can make possible our realization
of the fundamental if underlying meaning
of the earliest expressions
of the Christian faith.
The issue in Romans, in Jewett's reading, is not humanity's
alienation from God because
of sin and the ways in
which sin is revealed through boasting over others and in
which the law becomes implicated through the deep urges
of the flesh.

The resulting
alienation is perforce responded to by Yahweh, since the conditions
of creation have in any case already been altered; or perhaps there is a sense in
which the ensuing
alienation is itself the positive judgment
of God.
