of ancient authors, little press is given to such studies.

author talks about interpretation
of an
ancient book, he means to take literally the scripture the way you are putting.
To suggest that a collection
of ancient texts, written by multiple
authors and in multiple genres, spanning thousands
of years and countless cultural contexts provides a single, uniform prescription for how to be a woman is absolutely ridiculous.
