A separate post on Bungie's website revealed that the December update will, in a nutshell, increase the base damage
of auto rifles and fusion rifles, reduce the base damage of pulse rifles, improve hand cannon accuracy when aiming down sights and nerf shotguns to encourage more close - quarters usage, among other things.
The Splattershot and Splattershot Jr., neither of which feel all that different from one another, function as a sort
of auto rifle or mini gun.
This is actually good news for me, as I am a massive fan
of an auto rifle, so being able to have two equipped sounds like a dream come true.
When it comes down to it, you essentially just get a gun that is decent for the kind
of auto rifle that it is (higher rate of fire with a lower Impact), but that kind
of auto rifle is pretty much the least effective kind you can get in the world of Destiny.

of choice was the authors pick for best weapon, it just feels like the most balanced
auto rifle... Good clip, good damage, good stabilisation and the one i found had a bonus
of getting more accurate as i shoot.
I mean, if your prefer
auto rifles than sure, but for those
of use who'd rather wield the the deadly, multi-range scout
rifle, the Jigoku SR3 is with the Sureshot IS is the way to go.
The King's Fall raid had the Touch
of Malice which was a great
auto rifle too.
Middle rate
of fire
auto rifles are seeing a slight damage boost, while the highest rate
of fire
auto rifles are seeing a decrease in magazine size.
I'm currently rocking two
auto rifles (my personal favourite), one
of which has a Solar burn on.
The two biggest examples
of this are the
auto rifle tuning and buffing and the nerfing
of several overpowered exotics that have been dominating PvE and PvP alike.
That's alright though because if you still want to use that
auto rifle you can just infuse it which will sacrifice the hand cannon and raise the attack value
of the
rifle to an average between the two.
This update to weapons will level them out a lot, particularly
Auto Rifles which have been the go to weapon for all purposes since day 1
of Destiny 2.
As primary and secondary types are mainly delineated by the type
of damage dealt, it's now possible to run around with two
auto rifles, or a pulse
rifle and a hand cannon.
The weapon pool will be expanded to include a Kinetic version
of the Prosecutor
auto rifle alongside new a Scout
Rifle, Sniper
Rifle and Hand Canon.
